Hand-made Shoe Design
A hand-made leather shoe with subtle luxury bespoke inspired design that can be worn dressed up or down to suit any occasion.
Design Process
The inspiration for this shoe design is for the travelling businessman who aspires to have a luxurious lifestyle. The focus of the shoe design is to be timeless, understated, and confidence inspiring.
Thorough research of materials for the uppers of the shoe and the sole was done with a focus being soft to touch, yet, hard wearing. Traditional manufacturing techniques that offer easy repairability of the shoe promotes a desirable and sustainable shoe design.
Build Process
Hand-leathercraft methods are used for the assembly of the shoe. The construction method involves using a custom shoe last for the uppers. Leather was hand dyed and skived. Saddle stitching techniques was utilized to put the shoe all together. Traditional edge burnishing and wax polish methods produce a mirror finish on the toe box and heel counter.
Final Design
The image above is an in- Situ shoe worn with selvedge denim. The shoe is made with a colour #8 Horween Shell Cordovan leather on an Italian Margom sole.
The brogue detail around the heel counter and mirror-polished toe are elements of a luxurious shoe inspired by timeless oxford brogue and derby brogue shoe designs.
